Training Stampede, March 10th, 2012 @ Riverlawn Christian Church

White Buffalo District sponsors Training Stampede to help units complete their needed training, all in one shot. 

Topics covered: Cub Leader Specific, Merit Badge Counselor, Online Advancement, Board of Review, This is Scouting, Adult Youth Protection, Scoutmaster Conference, Varsity Specific, Venturing Specific, Unit Committee Challenge, Chartered Organization Representative, Den Chief, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Introduction to Geocaching, Commissioner Basics, and BB Gun Range & Archery Officer.

BALOO Basic Adult Leadership Outdoor Orientation, May 5th, 2012 @ Riverlawn Christian Church

Every Cubscout Leader should consider taking BALOO Training!  Go to:  www.vac-bsa.org/Training/Supplemental/TrnSupBaloo .

Basic Adult Leadership Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) Training is a day of fun and  learning which prepares Pack Leaders to plan and carry out outdoor experiences. A  BALOO-trained leader is required for Pack Family camping.

BALOO sessions include the why and how of Cub Scout camping -- planning,  equipment, meal preparation, and campfire programs. In the afternoon, Cub  Scouters rotate among round-robin sessions -- fire safety, stoves, and lanterns; first
aid and sanitation; nature hikes and games; and cooking. Moreover, scattered  throughout the day are plenty of the four S's: songs, stunts, stories, and  showmanship.

Cost:                            Early bird registration is $5.00 per person if registered by May 3rd, 2012. Registration starting May 4th will be $10.00 per person. Registration included lunch, insurance and all program materials.

Registration:              Pre-registration is required in order for us to guarantee program materials to all participants. Event is open to all registered Quivira Council adults. Please register online or at the Scout shop no later than May 3rd, 2012.

Outdoor Webelos Leader (OWL) Training, May 19-20, 2012 @ Camp Kanza

White Buffalo District sponsors this fun filled weekend all while learning the basic skills needed to have a successful outdoor program with your Webelos. It is open to all districts. Bear Leaders (to prepare for the upcoming year), Webelos Leaders (because it’s not too late), Cubmasters and parents (to know the type of program leaders should be offering and how you can help) should all participate in this training.

Topics covered: Campsite Selection, Webelos Cooking, Fire Building, First Aid and Safety, Campfire Planning, Woods Tools, Flag Ceremonies, Worship Services, Knots, Outdoor Programs, Advancement Tips, Webelos Transition, and more. This is not BALOO; the focus is on the Webelos program in detail.

When & Where:         Camp Kanza, Saturday-Sunday, May 19-20. Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19. Program starts at 9:00 a.m.
All participants will receive (via email) camping information and supplies list after registering.   Map Found here.            

Cost:                            Early Bird Fee is $15.00 per person and includes meals and cracker barrel. If paid after May 14th,
registration fee is $20.00. Pre-registration is required.
