Training

Trained Leaders provide better programs for your youth.  Whether you're looking for Leader Specific skills, or advanced training, BSA offers dozens of opportunities for training.   Many opportunities are available 24/7 at the the BSA On-line Learning Center, http://olc.scouting.org/ .  We also offer training opportunities at Roundtable.  Check out the High Plains training schedule. TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

Wilderness First Aid is required for all High Adventure activites in remote areas (more than 30 minutes from EMS response).  A member of each crew/patrol going to Philmont, Northern Tier, Sea Base and The Summit is required to have this certification.   Our next training will be offered over two Saturdays, 10 & 24 March, 2012.  A current CPR certification is now required as a pre-requisite and will be offered on Saturday, 3 March, 2012.  Training is open to all registered adults and youth, 14 years and First Class.   First Aid Merit Badge is recommended.  Courses will be presented at the LDS Derby Stake Center at 1409 S. Rock Rd in Derby.  We do not have many opportunities for this training in our Council so you won't want to miss it.  This is the biggest Cub training event in the Council this year, so you won't want to miss it.   CLICK HERE

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills and Scouting Specifics Training, 30-31 March and 1 April, 2012 at QSR.  Staff will present a fun outdoor training that focuses on First Class Scout skills and using the EDGE Method.   Course runs from 6pm on Friday until 9pm Saturday.  Cost is $25.  Specifics training for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Venturing and Varsity Leaders will be conducted on Sunday (8am-4pm) for those who can attend (Cost: $10).  CLICK HERE for the flyer with all the info.
