Quivira Scout Ranch celebrated 50 years of camping during 2011 summer camp sessions.

The celebration of camping at Quivira Scout Ranch has ended and all concur that it was a great way to conclude the first 50 years of camping. Some of the favorite activities of the summer included mountainboarding, pottery, and the tomahawk toss.

The new totem for the campfire entrance was a huge success. Many thanks to Jim Schmitz for securing the massive log used for the totem and directing all of the carving during each session. Scouts and Scout leaders alike participated in the carving, and it was difficult to determine who liked it the most. If you missed it, be sure to come to QSR to check it out. Awesome!

Adult Leader Training continued to be very popular each week, with over 35 adults participating in week 5, and requesting more training for 2012. A big thanks to the Training Committee for their efforts in providing these trainings. Keep up the great work!

Last but not least, a huge thank you to Camp Director Buzz Palmer. Buzz has relocated to Norton, KS and will not be returning as Camp Director after 4 years at the helm. During his tenure Buzz brought together a great staff who provided a great program. Thanks Buzz! You will be missed, but not forgotten.
